Our time at The Business Show

Last week we headed down to London to exhibit at The Business Show. This was a first-time experience for us and we had no idea what to expect. We didn’t know whether we had enough leaflets (we actually had more than enough) or whether people would stop by long enough to have a quick chat with us (don’t worry, they did). Regardless of what we expected, we came out with a lot of knowledge that can help us in the future.

When talking with potential customers, we were able to understand what they were looking for and how we could help them. We hadn’t been at the show long before we realised that the same few questions were coming up time and time again:

• “How much does it cost?”
• “What makes Nimvelo different to other providers?”
• “Is our business big enough for a phone system?”

As a result, we now have a much better understanding of what customers are hoping to get out of using Nimvelo Phone and how we can improve our system to meet the requirements of our customers.

We had a great location in the show’s Startup Zone, where we met lots of exciting new companies and entrepreneurs with incredible ideas. Our stand was also in close proximity to the Small Business Advice theatre, which we’d sponsored, and which featured some really thought-provoking and useful talks.

Throughout the two-day exhibition, we got to meet a few of our own amazing customers, which was great. We finally got to put some faces to the people we’ve worked with for years, so thanks to those that came over to say hi – we really appreciated it!

Are you considering exhibiting?

If you do consider exhibiting in the future, here’s a few tips you may want to keep in mind before your first show:

• There are hundreds of stands for people to visit, meaning you have limited time to sell your product/service – so do it fast.
• You won’t talk to as many people as you think – time is not on your side.
• It’s about getting your brand out there – so make sure you get your messaging right.
